Level: Asylum Theater
A "Dead by Daylight" level for the unofficial DLC "Curtain Call - Death at Asylum Theater" that I've been creating during a course at Abertay University.

For the project "Curtain Call - Death at Asylum Theater", I worked on a medium to large sized level greybox and a new Killer design for the game "Dead by Daylight" by Behaviour Interactive.
I worked on this project as part of the course "Game Design Practice" (GDP) during my semester abroad at Abertay University.

At this point I want to mention that this level is not created as part of the official game and my work should not be connected to the great designers at Behavior Interactive!
I started the project by creating an idea for a new killer. Therefore, I've researched what the game already has to offer. Killers with a wide variety of skills and perks made it harder to come up with something that is unique to some extend.
After collecting all necessary data, I came up with the idea for a puppet master, who is able to control the survivors for a short while after hitting four throwing needles into the same survivor as his special ability. While in control of a survivor they can attempt to work on a generator but the instead of fixing it, they would destroy it. They could also sneak up on other survivors and attack them to reduce their health stage. The time the killer can control a survivor can be influenced by other survivors, perks, and sacrificed objects.

After the idea was set I, started researching information about Dead by Daylight levels, both through the internet and also by exploring the maps with the help of a friend who has a lot of experience in playing DBD.
Research about basic level design theory helped me understand principles of level design and apply them in my practice. My major sources of information were the books "Level up! - The Guide to Great Video Game Design" by Scott Rogers and "Level Design – Concept, Theory & Practice" by Rudolf Kremers.
Further insides of the development, iterations, my goals, and my growth, can be found in the development portfolio.
